In this short article we’re sharing our top tips on how to save for the summer and get the best from these six weeks with your children.

6 Top Summer Saving Tips

Start Saving Early

If you can start saving as early as possible even if it’s just a small amount of pennies then into pounds eventually. There are many ways you can save money and it’s simple once you get into the swing of things. It’s so easy to waste money thinking of ways you can cut back or substitute for something a little cheaper. Open a savings account to put the holiday money into or just save at home either way it’s going to lighten the load over the summer holidays.

Budgeting

Budgeting is easy when you know how to make a chart and write down what you need for food , bills and everyday expenses. This way you can work out what money you have spare and how much you can afford to save each week. It’s amazing how budgeting can make a change to your spending. Sometimes unexpected expenses crop up that we don’t budget for but there’s plenty of options out there to make paying for large items such as household appliances so much easier.

Free or Cheap Activities

Summer holidays are all about having fun with your loved ones, so who says days out can’t be just as good because they’re free or your budget is slightly lower than someone else’s. Browse the net, look for cheap and free things to do in your area, go to the local park and take a picnic and make a day of it weather permitting.

Look for the BEST Deals

Family holidays can be super expensive but there are things you can do to keep the cost low and get the best deal possible. There’s plenty of sites you can use on the internet to compare deals and prices. If you’re thinking about going somewhere, maybe go outside of school holiday time , you usually find holidays are more expensive when it’s peak season.

Make Your Money Last

Now you have saved and accomplished what you wanted, it’s time to make your money stretch not as easy as you might think but there’s ways you can keep the kids happy and still stay on budget. If you’re going on a day out then take a packed lunch and pick some cheap drinks up from the shop, walk if you can or even go on bikes. Make cutbacks wherever possible and your money will go the extra mile.

Only Save What You Can Afford

Most importantly, only save what you can afford and don’t leave yourself short. I’m sure most children are just happy to be spending time and having fun with their families. As long as your bills are paid and their food in your belly’s you’re on the right track.

Would A Loan Help with Summer Holiday?

Sometimes people consider loans to help cover the cost of summer holidays, these allow you an influx of cash to help with the increased expense of the summer period.
